School challenges

Sometimes it seems like it would be exciting to be an exchange student ... and then I watch my girls struggle to understand American History and American Literature when their English is still very much a second language.

Oksana has been able to find some of her textbooks in Russian (not her mother tongue, but pretty close), and because her English is good to begin with, she sits and complains about the A minus she is getting in a few classes.

Nasreen can not find any of her books in Urdu (not shocking), and because her English is limited, we are hoping she will hold on to the C minus she has in a few classes.  And even though she probably has received a decent education for a Pakistani woman, I would not be surprised to find it doesn't match up to her brother's education.

Pressing on ...
