Audrey's dad has the girls picking out classes and getting ready to meet with the guidance counselor. This year they are arriving so late that Parveen is going to register the first day of classes.
One issue we had last year was that Oksana arrived very early in August, so she got very used to having all her time to herself, and when school started she complained a lot. So, it's good that Parveen and Miriam are arriving closer to the start of classes, but it still feels like too little time.
Another thing this year is that we are encouraging both girls to take either a math or science class. Last year Nasreen and Oksana refused to take math or science, even though both reported that they were very good at these subjects. The beauty of a math or science class is that math in the modern world is the same across languages and cultures and science, too is more consistent than their history or literature classes. We also hope that it will require fewer papers written in English, and long reading projects, which were very demanding last year.
So ... just a few more weeks until we have THREE high-schoolers in the house! Wow.
3 high schoolers!? It can't be true!
