OK, we all have phobia’s . I (Dad) hate and have nightmares of snakes. One of our daughters has issues with fish, another spiders…shall I go on? Nasreen however has issues with dogs. Nasreen comes from a city with many stray dogs. Children there are taught from birth to stay away from dogs.
We have a cuddly 1 ½ year old labradoodle named Piper. Piper is amazing, very obedient, loves to fetch and mostly just wants to be scratched and near people.
Suddenly, we heard someone talking in increased volume, almost yelling but it was not a child or an adult, had fear in the voice and we could not place it. We all looked at each other and then…Nasreen!!!
Nasreen was outside in the yard and the terrible playfully hound was, was, well, wanting to play. Fortunately Nasreen was on the swing set, very near the invisible fence and Piper was not actually coming in contact with Nasreen, even though Nasreen expected a viscious attack at any moment.
Later in the day, Dad spent time letting Nasreen through the dog frisbee and even got Nasreen to pet Piper. Progress! Nasreen also fully understands that if she goes outside the underground fence, Piper won't follow her!
