Time, also, is different in the US?

It mystifies me that Oksana showed up with a whole suitcase of Ukraine appropriate clothing she now realizes will not fit in at American High school, almost a suitcase worth of high-heeled shoes that will not run through the expansive halls, and electrical hair-stylers that won't plug into my outlet without help, but no alarm clock.

Seems to me that while fashion and electricity vary around the world, time is essentially the same.

Nasreen also brought no alarm clock, so off we went to buy new alarm clocks.

The other thing that appears to vary in O & N's mind however, is the duration of five minutes.

Yesterday, for the second time, someone got left at home because their interpretation of "we are leaving in five minutes" varied from any motorized or electric clock in the known world.
