Our daughter Oksana decided to make some apple desert for our family one afternoon. She had been with us about two weeks. She searched for flour, sugar, eggs, salt and other necessary ingredients, cut up the apples and bananas and put them in the mixing bowl. First the flour, then sugar, salt… the egg was last. She went to crack it on the side of the bowl and nothing. A bit harder (I can just imagine her thinking our eggs are very different and much harder). Well, without saying it she looked at us and said what this, "This egg, is what is it?"
Almost at the same time Audrey and Mom were in the kitchen and started laughing. We had forgotten to tell Oksana that hard boiled eggs were in the refrigerator door and the uncooked eggs are on the shelf, in the egg carton.
A week later, our daughter "Nasreen" arrived from Pakistan. On her fourth day she started to make herself an omelet for breakfast. A few minutes later, she spoke softly, looking up with big eyes, “What is wrong with this egg?" Nasreen had taken two of the hard boiled eggs. We all started laughing and the two have now a great story and have started sharing it. Nasreen has since had several eggs and cooked wonderful food for us.
